How Much Does an Awning Cost? A Straight Answer from a Suffolk Installer

“How much does an awning cost?” is usually the first question we’re asked, and it deserves a proper answer rather than a vague “it depends”. Awnings are made to measure, so there isn’t one price list that fits every home. What we can do is show you exactly what moves the price up or down, so you can walk into a consultation knowing what to expect.

What actually drives the price

  1. Size. Width and projection (how far the awning reaches out from the wall) are the biggest factors. A compact awning over a small patio costs less than one spanning the full width of a house. Our awning size guide explains how to work out the right dimensions. Before we take an order for any Weinor or Saffron Signature awning, we always carry out a site survey to make sure the size is right for what it needs to do.
  2. The model. Awnings range from simple, elegant open designs to premium cassette models that protect the fabric when it’s closed. Our Weinor range and our Saffron Signature range sit at different points, so there is a good option for most budgets.
  3. Manual or motorised. A manual awning is generally the lower-cost option. Motorised awnings cost more, but add convenience and the option of a wind sensor. We’ve written an honest comparison of motorised and manual awnings.
  4. Fabric. With over 170 fabric options, there is plenty of choice, and your selection can affect the final figure.
  5. Extras. LED lighting, heaters, side screens or a valance all add to the specification.
  6. Your wall and your home. What the awning is fixed to, the height available and how easy it is to reach the wall all feed into the installation. This is one reason a site visit matters.

Is the cheapest option the best value?

Not always, and we’ll tell you honestly if a simpler option suits you better. A smaller manual awning on a sheltered wall can be excellent value. If you plan to use the awning often, or you’re away from home a lot, a motorised model with a sensor can earn its place. The right awning is the one that fits how you actually use your garden.

Installation and looking after it

Our own in-house team measures, fits and services your awning, so the people who quote it are the people who install it. Once it’s in, a little regular care goes a long way (see our simple awning care guide), and our servicing and maintenance keeps it running smoothly for years.

How to get an accurate figure

The most reliable way is a free design consultation and site survey. We’ll visit, measure, talk through your options and give you a clear quote, with no pressure to decide on the spot. If you’d rather start from home, you can book a virtual consultation, or visit our showroom to see the awnings in person.
