About Saffron Outdoor Living!

Transforming Homes Since 2011

At Saffron Outdoor Living, we believe outdoor spaces should be just as comfortable and beautiful as the rooms inside your home. As a family-run business, we design and install premium outdoor living solutions that bring comfort, style, and year-round usability to your home.

It began in 2011 as HBC Designs LLP, founded by David and Julie Cotterill together, with David bringing over 30 years of hands-on trade experience and Julie a director from day one. Bryony Cotterill-Broughall joined as a director in April 2014, and that November the business became HBC Designs & Installations Ltd. Then, in December 2024, we rebranded as Saffron Outdoor Living, a name that better reflects the business we’d grown into. Through every change, one thing hasn’t moved: the family-run values, personal service and attention to detail we’ve built our reputation on since day one.

Our mission is simple: to create comfort and style, one home at a time. That means treating every enquiry as if it were our own home, with no pressure, no upselling, just honest advice about what will actually work for your space and your budget. It’s why the same in-house team who measures your project is the one who fits it, and why we’re still here servicing awnings and verandas we installed years ago.

We’ve grown steadily rather than chasing scale for its own sake. We became an authorised Weinor partner, started working with Primrose in 2013 as their installation team and, today, also supply additional brackets for their range. We opened our showroom in Haverhill so customers can see and touch fabrics, frames and finishes before committing to anything, and we’ve exhibited at BBC Gardeners’ World Live in both 2023 and 2024. Along the way, we’ve also been recognised with the E2 Media Award of Excellence (2022) and E2 Media Accolade of Achievement (2023), awarded prior to our 2024 rebrand under our former name, Saffron Shutters & Awnings. Today we cover Essex, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire, Norfolk and London, but the way we work with each customer hasn’t changed since David fitted his first awning.

Proudly serving Essex, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire, Norfolk and surrounding areas.
