If your awning fabric is faded, stained or worn but the frame still feels solid, you may be wondering whether you need a whole new awning. Often you don’t, and a fresh fabric can make an older awning look like new.
When replacing the fabric makes sense
- The framework, arms and motor (if fitted) are in good working order.
- The fabric is faded, frayed, torn or sagging.
- You’d like a refreshed look, with a new colour or pattern.
When a new awning may be the better choice
If the frame is corroded or damaged, or the awning is very old and parts are hard to source, a new fabric may not be the best use of your money. We’ll always tell you honestly which route we’d take, even if it’s the simpler repair.
How to find out
- Take a few clear photos of the whole awning, the fabric and any damage.
- Note the make and model, if you know it (often shown on a label on the framework).
- Send them to us through our awning repairs page, or get in touch.
Whether a new fabric can be fitted depends on the make, the model and the condition of the frame, so we’d always check before promising anything.
Choosing a new fabric
With over 170 fabric options across our ranges, there is plenty to choose from. We’ll bring samples so you can see them against your house in your own light.
Keep the new fabric looking good
Use a soft hand brush for dried dirt and rinse occasionally with clean water, and never use a pressure washer. Our care guide has the details.
