This exceptional project in Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, transformed a contemporary home into a refined outdoor retreat. The homeowners wanted to create shade across their large bi-fold doors while maintaining a sleek, integrated look that complemented their K-rendered façade.
However, the property’s structure was not suitable for traditional wall-mounted awning brackets, so our team designed an alternative solution that combined both structural integrity and aesthetic harmony.
Tailored Design and Structural Innovation
To achieve the desired coverage, we designed and installed a bespoke 9.7-metre-wide goalpost frame to support the awnings. The frame was colour-matched to blend seamlessly with the property’s downpipes, ensuring the installation felt fully integrated rather than added-on.
We presented the client with two configuration options — a single large awning (9m total width) or two separate awnings for greater flexibility. After discussing the benefits of each, the client opted for two Weinor Cassita awnings, allowing independent operation on either side of the patio. This provided them with control over light, shade, and temperature depending on the time of day and their outdoor activities.
The result is a beautifully balanced design that complements the home’s modern aesthetic while offering practical versatility.
